As of 2022, certain health insurance plans allow members to use their Over-the-counter ( OTC) card to may payments to their internet provider.
If you live in New York, certain Medicare Advantage Plans who offer OTC benefits allow you to use your OTC card to help pay for you home Internet service. You can use the OTC card to pay for your internet bill, as long as the internet provider is on your insurers approved vendor list; for example, Verizon, Optimum, Spectrum and other providers.
To check to see if you can use this particular benefit, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account on https://www.otcnetwork.com.
- Select your internet company
- Enter your account number
If you internet provider is not on the approved vendor list, certain insurance companies allow you to fill out a reimbursement from which has to be filled out and mailed. Once approved, they will mail you a check in a few weeks.
