Beware of Corona virus health scams

1. BEWARE OF FAKE NEWS about Corona Virus

2. Watch out for #COVID19 scams! Including #Medicare scams

3. Report price gouging to 311 or NYC.gov

4. CDC staff will NOT go door-to-door. If you experience this, call 911“…5 helicopters spray disinfectants into the air to eradicate the coranavirus” – FAKE NEWS! My mom along with one of my members called and exclaimed the message above. Please watch out for fake news and Covid 19 scams. “tonight from 11:40 pm nobody should be on the street. Doors and windows should remain closed as 5 helicopters spray disinfectants into the air to eradicate the Coronavirus. Please process this information to all of your contacts”. Besides fake news, watch out for scammers

Scammers may use COVID-19 as an opportunity to steal your identity and commit Medicare fraud

In some cases, they might tell you they’ll send you a Coronavirus test, masks, or other items in exchange for your Medicare number or personal information. Be wary of unsolicited requests for your Medicare number or other personal information. It’s important to always guard your Medicare card like a credit card and check your Medicare claims summary forms for errors. Only give your Medicare number to participating Medicare pharmacists, primary and specialty care doctors or people you trust to work with Medicare on your behalf. Remember, Medicare will never call you to ask for or check your Medicare number.
